HAVEnS Innovate UK funded Project 100390

High Assurance Vehicle Entry System

The project focuses on the development of an advanced automotive security system aimed at combating the sharp rise in vehicle theft associated with keyless car technology witnessed in recent years, as passive entry systems become the norm across the automotive industry. The proposed system will be capable of defending against all current passive keyless entry attacks as well as the 'brute force' quantum attacks that are likely to become commonplace as quantum computing technology advances in the coming years.

Cyber Security Consortium

The project brings together a highly experienced consortium with specialists in cyber security, connected mobility, design of specialised IoT RF systems, and communications technology to develop a prototype system, testing 3 distinct architectural solutions (stand-alone hardware, stand-alone software, combined solution with phone as 'black' key) to assess technical and commercial viability.

Next generation authentication

It is a patented next generation authentication technology that combines the individuals digital identity to a strong authenticator that can either be in standalone hardware or a software module (such as a smartphone app). Developed to put emphasis on machine-to-machine communication, removing the user complexity from the equation. It was originally designed for defence securing autonomous vehicles and swarm drone concepts.

Truly secure cryptographic algorithm

It's patented protocol uses the only truly secure cryptographic algorithm (one time pad) to provide a future proof authenticator, using a challenge methodology so both parties can authenticate themselves at the same time without relying on users inspecting certificates and URL addresses.

Next generation authentication
Cryptographic Algorithm

How Can It Be Used?

It can be used as a standalone authenticator; it can be used to underpin a new distributed ledger (blockchain) to provide both user authentication and peer to peer node authentication. Generally, any instance a user or machine has to authenticate itself can benefit from our protocol.

Cost effective, Simple, flexibility

The protocol has a simple implementation that can run on cheap disposable electronics, keeping implementation costs low (such as PIC processors and Smart Cards). The protocol has a flexible implementation meaning it can be retrofit to existing systems or deployed as a core foundation to new emerging products and technologies.
